Chronic myelogenous leukemia is classified in three phases: “chronic” phase, “accelerated” phase, and “blastic” phase. The phases refer to whether the leukemia is in an early or more advanced phase of the disease. The phase of the leukemia is important in order for your doctors to prescribe your course of treatment.
