Growth factors are naturally produced by the body and encourage the production of blood cells. Very high medicinal doses of growth factors have been shown in some cases to help the bone marrow function better. While not a cure for MDS, growth factors can help the patient by increasing blood counts and reducing the need for blood transfusions.
