Treatment for Moderately Aggressive Forms of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Moderately aggressive lymphomas include the following sub-types: mantle cell lymphoma, diffuse large-cell lymphoma, peripheral T-cell lymphoma, anaplastic large-cell lymphoma.

A full course of combination chemotherapy (six or eight cycles) is common for treatment of the early stages of moderately aggressive lymphomas. Limited radiation therapy might also be prescribed. Chemotherapy is also the standard treatment for more advanced stages. “CHOP” therapy, a combination of Cytoxan, Adriamycin, Oncovin, and prednisone, is one of the most commonly-prescribed chemotherapy regimens. For patients with relapsed disease, high-dose chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow or stem cell transplant may be prescribed if the patient is considered a good candidate.
